West Ham United are set to conclude a loan deal for Fiorentina midfielder Carlos Sanchez, with the Colombian and his agent flying to London to complete the formalities, according to Alfredo Pedulla.

The Hammers have allowed Cheikhou Kouayte to leave the club this summer and join London rivals Crystal Palace, leaving Manuel Pellegrini one player light in the middle of the park.

Despite the arrival of Jack Wilshere at West Ham earlier this summer, the club could still use an extra option in the heart of the team to bolster strength in depth.

Sanchez, formerly of Aston Villa, is a combative enforcer with plenty of international experience and an admirable work rate.

While the Colombian veteran is unlikely to be a starter in the West Ham line-up in 2018-19, should he arrive the South American would be a competent option from the bench if Pellegrini is looking to see out a result.

The report suggests the Fiorentina man wants to move to the Hammers and that the Serie A side are looking at a potential loan deal for Edimilson Fernandes as the club swap midfielders.
