West Ham United manager David Moyes has confirmed that defensive pair Winston Reid and Sam Byram will play no part in Saturday’s Premier League clash against Burnley at the London Stadium.
The Hammers are eager for three points against the visitors, but the injured duo will be on the sidelines and could well miss the remainder of the 2017-18 campaign.
In more positive news for West Ham, the injured pair’s places could well be covered by Angelo Ogbonna and James Collins.
The experienced international pair were both absent for the 4-1 defeat to Swansea City last time out but have returned to Hammers training ahead of this weekend’s crunch clash.
As such, Moyes will surely make quite a few changes to his West Ham side in an effort to correct recent poor form and disappointing results.
The Hammers are still in danger of being dragged back into a relegation battle, despite the Scotsman improving fortunes since taking over from Slaven Bilic.
The West Ham manager has stated that his injury situation is constantly changing but he will pick a team to win on Saturday.
“Unfortunately we lost Winston Reid and Sam Byram to injury in the game last week,” Moyes told the Hammers official website.
“Winston, we think, will be out for the rest of the season and with Sam Byram we’re just waiting on a decision from the surgeon at the moment, but it doesn’t look great for him either.
“After that, Angelo has trained this week after an illness and we’re still monitoring Ginge. With everything going well, hopefully they will be fit.
“It’s a really big blow about Winston because he is a really important player for us. He’s experienced and with the games coming up over the next ten weeks or so he would have been important.”
