West Ham are due to play against Oxford United in a Football League Cup third round clash at the Kassam Stadium on Wednesday.

The Hammers will be filled with confidence following an impressive 2-0 win over Manchester United in the Premier League last weekend.

In addition to defeating United, West Ham have also just lost once in the English Premier League this season and that result came during their opening fixture against reigning Champions of England Manchester City.

Manuel Pellegrini’s Hammers side will be expected to win this game.

The Chilean will likely look to experiment with different players during the match.

Pablo Zabaleta, Fabian Balbuena and Roberto are all expected to start the game for West Ham, as reported by Football.London.

It remains to be seen who will start in the left-back position for the Hammers during the game.

Whoever starts against Oxford in the position will likely be benched for the club’s weekend clash against Bournemouth this weekend.

Aaron Cresswell deputised for Arthur Masuaku brilliantly last weekend and even scored a goal.

The Englishman will be expected to start the game against Oxford and be benched for the game against the Cherries but it will not be surprising if Pellegrini does start with Masuaku instead.

Winston Reid continues to be unavailable for West Ham, added the report.

This means that Issa Diop could be the likely candidate to partner Balbuena in the heart of defence. Felipe Anderson and Pablo Fornals should be present in Pellegrini’s midfield with Andriy Yarmolenko set to be given a rest.
