West Ham reject transfer approach for Magassa

West Ham United midfielder Soungoutou Magassa is subject to interest in the transfer market after struggling for playing time with the Hammers.

The West Ham star has attracted Turkish giants Galatasaray, who submitted a proposal for the holding midfielder.

However, per reports from Turkey, the East London club did not agree to his exit. ‘To my knowledge, the offer for West Ham for Soungoutou Magassa was not accepted.’

Magassa joined last summer and has delivered some promising performances, but he has yet to force his way into the first team.

The Frenchman has played only 808 minutes of football and could be open to a move away from the London Stadium for playing time.

Napoli had reportedly shown interest in his services. Gala are also now in the picture, having failed with an offer.

Rather than cashing in now, West Ham would be wise to keep Magassa around and allow his development to run its course.

The Hammers are already facing potential upheaval in midfield, with Guido Rodriguez expected to depart, and further thinning out the engine room would feel unnecessarily risky.

Squad depth in that area will be vital for the remaining months of the season.

More importantly, Magassa still looks like a player on the verge of something clicking.

At 22, his physical profile, ball-winning ability and calmness in possession hint at a ceiling that West Ham are unlikely to replace cheaply if he explodes elsewhere.

Those 808 minutes have offered flashes rather than consistency, but that is hardly unusual for a young midfielder adapting to the Premier League’s demands.

Next season could be the one where Magassa truly emerges.

Letting him go now would feel premature. Sometimes the most intelligent transfer decision is the one you don’t make, and West Ham should show patience here.
