West Ham United are one of three Premier League sides to make an approach for Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes, according to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo.
The Hammers have added a host of new players to Manuel Pellegrini’s inherited squad but could yet bring more new faces to the London Stadium before the transfer window closes next month.
West Ham have been linked with Gomes consistently over the last 12 months, with the Portugal international failing to make a major impression at Barcelona.
While the departure of Andres Iniesta may present the Portugal international an opportunity, regular first-team football would surely be more forthcoming with the Irons.
The report suggests that West Ham have enquired about Gomes’ availability and that they want to land him before the transfer window slams shut on August 9.
It also states Barcelona are keen on young Hammer Domingos Quina, with potential for collaboration on two deals.
With speculation over the West Ham futures of Cheikhou Kouyate and Pedro Obiang, landing someone of the calibre of Gomes would certainly fill the void for the Hammers and be the cherry on top of a successful summer in the market.
