West Ham interested in Stade Reims striker Adama Bojang

West Ham United are now interested in signing Stade de Reims striker Adama Bojang.

However, The Guardian journalist Ed Aarons reports that the Hammers are not the only club interested in the highly sought-after striker.

Premier League rivals Everton and Brentford, along with Lille and Royal Antwerp, are also in the mix.

According to Aarons, any deal for the 21-year-old Gambian striker would cost between €3-€5 million, but that would be a drop in the bucket for West Ham.

Reims are reluctant to part ways with Bojang but may not have a choice after their relegation to Ligue 2.

Bojang first made headlines in 2023 after attracting interest from some of Europe’s biggest names, including Manchester United, Chelsea, and Manchester City.

At the time, Chelsea even considered paying up to £1m for his signature before Reims swooped in with an offer closer to £3m.

Since then, Bojang has been building his reputation in Europe, although not without mixed results.

West Ham should look beyond Bojang

West Ham can certainly do better than Bojang. The Hammers are desperate for attacking reinforcement, especially after their humbling opening day 3-0 defeat against newly promoted Sunderland.

However, Bojang is hardly an addition that would move the needle.

The Gambian spent last season on loan at Grasshopper Club Zurich in Switzerland, where he scored six goals and weighed in with two assists in 26 league games.

He scored a brace against Lausanne-Sport in February and a hat-trick against FC Lucerne in April.

Despite showing glimpses of his talent, his numbers are massively underwhelming for a player tipped to be one of Africa’s most exciting prospects.

His inconsistency should send alarm bells ringing at West Ham. He might be a raw talent, but he’s far below the level required to succeed in the Premier League.

Bojang is a long-term project rather than a short-term fix. But even as a project addition, West Ham can’t afford another gamble in front of goal and would be wise to look elsewhere.
