West Ham are interested in signing Erick Pulgar from Bologna, according to a report which was published by Canal de Futbol.

The report added that the 25-year-old is viewed as a potential replacement for Declan Rice.

Pulgar impressed for Bologna last season as he went on to make 30 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals.

The reported West Ham target also made six appearances in the Copa America for Chile before his nation suffered a shock defeat during the semi-final of the competition by Peru.

Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini will also know a lot about Pulgar as a fellow Chilean.

Pulgar would be a good addition to the West Ham side and would be able to add more strength in depth to the squad as they look to potentially secure a place in the Europa League next season.

Rice looks set to remain in the team ahead of next season, and the South American could provide competition in the centre of the park.

The Hammers also definitely need to bring in midfield reinforcements this summer. Carlos Sanchez is past his prime and he and Jack Wilshere spent the majority of last season on the sidelines, while Pedro Obiang’s future is unclear.

The club must also start preparing for life after Mark Noble. The 32-year-old still remains a solid player but he likely only has another two years of good football left in him.

Pulgar would definitely be a solid addition to the London Stadium team.
