West Ham United are stepping up their efforts to sign Middlesbrough winger Morgan Whittaker ahead of the start of the Championship season, according to talkSPORT.
The 25-year-old right winger enjoyed an outstanding 2025/26 campaign for Middlesbrough, establishing himself as one of the most dangerous wide players in the Championship.
After joining from Plymouth Argyle in January 2025, Whittaker hit top form last season, registering 14 goals and seven assists in all competitions.
His ability to cut inside onto his favoured left foot, drive at defenders, and unleash powerful strikes has attracted interest from several English clubs.
West Ham have identified Whittaker as a primary target to strengthen their wide options and provide direct competition in the final third.
The Hammers’ recruitment team is eager to conclude negotiations before their Championship campaign begins, aiming to integrate the talented winger into squad preparations as soon as possible.
Whittaker’s versatility also appeals; while primarily a right winger, he is equally comfortable playing behind the striker or as a secondary forward.
Securing Whittaker will not be straightforward. Middlesbrough view the Englishman as central to their promotion push and are reluctant to part ways with a player under contract until June 2029. Boro are expected to demand a premium fee to even consider a sale.
