West Ham United have agreed to sell Senegalese defender El Hadji Malick Diouf to Brentford in a £40 million deal, according to Sky Sports.
Brentford will pay an initial £35m, with a further £5m in performance-related add-ons.
The Bees made a breakthrough in negotiations for the 21-year-old left-back as they look to reinforce their options on the left flank before the transfer window closes.
Brentford have monitored Diouf’s progress in recent months and overcame initial resistance from their East London rivals to secure a full agreement.
Diouf joined West Ham from Slavia Prague in January 2025 for around £19m and quickly established himself as a reliable presence.
Comfortable as a left-back, left wing-back, or left-sided centre-back, the Senegal international featured regularly last season, earning praise for his athleticism, recovery pace, and overlapping runs.
However, following West Ham’s relegation to the Championship, Diouf was eager to remain in the Premier League and was left out of recent matchday squads.
The £40m deal gives West Ham a substantial profit on the defender as they continue their post-relegation squad rebuild.
For Brentford, signing Diouf adds proven quality and essential long-term depth on the left side of defence.
Diouf’s ball-carrying, aerial strength, and defensive recovery make him an ideal fit alongside Brentford’s established wide options such as Rico Henry and Keane Lewis-Potter.
Although some details remain, Diouf is expected to finalise his move to Brentford soon.
Meanwhile, West Ham will need to move quickly to find a replacement, with Wrexham now in pole position to sign Jacques Ekomie, who had also been linked with the Hammers.
