West Ham United midfielder Pedo Obiang is a transfer target for Serie A side Fiorentina this summer, according to The Sun.

The Spanish midfielder was previously on the books of Sampdoria and as such is well known in Italian football.

The report suggests that West Ham rate Obiang around the £15 million mark and Spanish side Villarreal are also interested in him.

With Manuel Pellegrini taking over at the London Stadium this summer, the playing squad is set to be examined and a handful of players are expected to leave as a result.

The centre of midfield is an area where West Ham do not have a lot of options, with Obiang’s range of passing and footballing intelligence making him one of the club’s most-able options.

However, the Spaniard has been blighted by injuries during his time in England and as such has struggled to string together a consistent run of games for the Hammers.

West Ham are expected to sign a new central midfielder this summer but letting Obiang leave before this happens could be foolhardy.
