West Ham United have Spanish side Sevilla for company in the battle to sign Toulouse defender Issa Diop, according to The Daily Mail.

The Hammers are in the market for a new centre-half and the 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the London Stadium of late.

West Ham look short of options at the heart of their rearguard and as such landing Diop would be a major boost for new coach Manuel Pellegrini.

The latest report suggests that Sevilla are also keen to land the French defender but the La Liga outfit have offered less than the Hammers.

West Ham are believed to be in ongoing talks with Toulouse over a potential £22 million deal for Diop – a significant outlay for the Premier League side.

The defender has played for France at youth level right up to featuring in the under-21 team and looks to have a bright future in the game after star performances in Ligue 1.

West Ham have also been linked with a move for Swansea defender Alfie Mawson, with the Hammers rearguard set to look significantly different next season.
