West Ham have reportedly made a new £20 million offer for midfielder Andre Gomes, according to a report published by reliable Hammers source Claret and Hugh.

The East Londoners have been known to be keen on recruiting the Portugal international who went on to make 27 Premier League appearances this season, scoring one goal and recording one assist.

The Hammers blew hot and cold this season. The club played well at times but needs to make considerable improvements this summer if they want to seriously challenge for a strong finish on the top half of the standings next season.

After struggling against Liverpool in the Champions League this season, Barcelona are set to part ways with many players this summer. They will be looking to build a side which can beat any side in the World next season. It remains to be seen whether the Balugrana see Gomes as part of their future plans and if not, they may just sell him this summer.

There is one factor which could make Gomes resist a move to the London Stadium and that is the fact that Manuel Pellegrini’s side will not be able to offer him the opportunity to experience Champions League or for that matter even Europa League football next season.

Nevertheless, he would be a good signing for the Hammers and could form a solid midfield combination with Declan Rice. Pellegrini must seriously push for this move to happen this summer. His club could just end up having a gem in midfield.
