West Ham are reportedly interested in signing striker Mario Balotelli, according to a report published by Fotomac.
The Italian is set to join a new club this summer with his current deal with Marseille set to come to an end this summer. West Ham will need to sign new strikers this summer. Marko Arnautovic, Andy Caroll, Javier Hernandez and Lucas Perez all struggled for form and consistency this season.
Caroll is set to leave the club this summer while the futures of Perez and Hernandez is the subject of speculation. Arnautovic tried to force through a move to the Chinese Super League in January but later decided to stay put and sign a new contract at the London Stadium.
Hammers fans will largely be mixed as to whether the club should move for a player like Balotelli. Once hailed as a future superstar in the making as a young talent, the 28-year-old has seen his career progress sadly curtailed by an inability to behave properly during his younger days. He has however appeared to be a more mature person and player during the past two seasons.
This season, he managed to score an impressive eight Ligue 1 goals from 14 appearances. During the 2017/18 season, he was on the books of Nice and managed to score 26 goals from 38 games in all competitions.
Balotelli is now at the peak of his career and he certainly has what it takes to score goals in the Premier League. His prior experienced in England with Liverpool and Manchester City will also make it easier for him to adjust again to the tempo of English football over signing a player who has never played in the English top-flight before.
