West Ham United have tabled a lucrative offer to sign former Manchester United youth player Mipo Odubeko, according to a report which was published by Football London.

The talented youngster is currently without a club after having left United during the summer and it appears that the Hammers are currently leading the race to secure his signature.

West Ham target Odubeko has attracted interest from a number of clubs including Juventus and Atletico Madrid, added the report.

United were keen on securing the future of the player after he showed tremendous potential last season and bagged 35 goals for their youth sides.

After declining an offer from the Old Trafford club, he went on to become one of the most in-demand youth players in Europe.

Odubeko will likely join a club which can offer him European football sooner rather than later and this could leave West Ham in pole position to sign him.

He could feel that he will have better chances of achieving first-team football soon at the Hammers than he would at a club which is aiming to win major trophies right away.

Though Odubeko turns out internationally for the Republic of Ireland U17, he is still eligible to switch his international allegiance to Nigeria.

The youngster is clearly a star in the making as was shown by his performances last season.

If West Ham do sign him, they must aim to develop him properly and they could get a good first-team addition if they follow a similar process to what they did in terms of developing Declan Rice into the player that he is today.
