According to Tuttomercatoweb, West Ham United and Leeds United were interested in signing Nahitan Nandez from Cagliari in the January transfer window.
The report in the Italian news outlet has claimed that Cagliari are now set to hand the 24-year-old Uruguay international midfielder a new contract.
The report has claimed there will be a new release clause in the midfielder’s contract, and that he is very likely to leave the Serie A outfit in the summer of 2020.
It has been reported that Championship club Leeds and Premier League outfit West Ham wanted to secure the services of Nandez last month.
According to WhoScored, Nandez has made 18 starts and three substitute appearances in Serie A for Cagliari so far this season, scoring one goal and providing three assists in the process.
The Uruguay international midfielder joined Cagliari from Argentine giants Boca Juniors in the summer of 2019.
Rolando Maran’s side are sixth in the Serie A table at the moment with 32 points from 22 matches, seven points behind fourth-placed Atalanta.
