‘Yes we do’ – Moyes delivers positive West Ham transfer news

West Ham United manager David Moyes has stated that the club are keen to add new players to the squad during the January transfer window.

The Hammers have shown that on their day they can beat anyone in the Premier League, with increased expectations at the club over the last 18 months.

West Ham are fighting to assure European football again next season and the ultimate aim for Moyes and the London club is to break into the top four and quality for the Champions League.

The Irons have suffered injuries over recent weeks and are short of options, especially in defence, as the fixtures build up.

When asked by reporters at at a press conference whether West Ham will be active in the January transfer market, Moyes offered up an optimistic retort.

“I’d love to say yes,” Football London quote the Hammers boss as saying.

“Do we want to act? Yes we do. Are we ready to act? Probably not. That is not to do with resources but it’s to do with availability, generally it looks like a difficult market.

“We say that every year but it feels that way. All I would say is that our last few January windows have seen us get Soucek, Bowen and Jesse Lingard so if I could get anybody that would give us that level of success during the January window it would be seen as a positive.”

Given the success that West Ham have had in recent January transfer windows with adding quality, bringing in an additional player or two could well be the impetus to confirm a successful season.

West Ham are currently sitting in fifth place in the Premier League standings, with a 4-1 win over Watford last time out ending a winless run.

The Hammers are back in action on New Years Day with an away day against London rivals Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
