West Ham United fans saw their side go down 2-0 to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night, and after they match they took to Twitter to show their disgust for a man who started the game.
The Hammers were never truly in the contest, choosing a damage limitation outlook rather than one which could give them a chance of winning the game, a surprising move to many given their current plight which sees them inside the bottom three in the Premier League table.
West Ham go to leaders Liverpool next, so things get no easier for the London outfit, which will not have endeared their fans to their tactics any more than they were already.
David Moyes was heavily criticised by Hammers supporters after the game for the way he set the side up, but on a night where few stood out positively for the visitors, he certainly wasn’t the only one who came in for stick.
To be fair to the West Ham fans, they could have singled out a number of players to voice their angst against, even though they achieved what they were ordered to do, and avoid a heavy beating like the one they suffered to the same opposition on the opening weekend of the campaign.
The man they chose was Hammers defender Arthur Masuaku, a player who struggled to contain the threat of Bernardo Silva throughout the match, and who didn’t cover himself in glory at any stage.
His performances have not lived up to the expectations of many West Ham fans for a while, and they certainly made their feelings about that known on Twitter after the final whistle, coming down hard on the full-back, who despite the criticism played the full 90 minutes of the game.
