West Ham v Everton Preview

Our last home game of the season before we give Newcastle a lifeline on the last day (I fancy Hull to beat Spurs and for this to go to the last day) and it will be a time for reflection at Upton Park.  Not so long ago, we were saying goodbye to the Prem on such a day and now we languish in safety.  But is it enough?  Not for most it seems, as the manager poll suggests and it could be the last we see of the Allardyce/Nolan era in the East End.

I'd like to think we could show our appreciation for these guys – I will always ask fans if they prefer the Grant/Upson days to those of Nolan and Sam.  There is no doubt they made a cultural change round the place.  It wasn't always pretty, but it was effective, and more importantly, the medicine the club required.  I like to think, despite some of the results this year, we are no longer a 'soft touch' and have more of a backbone than we used to.

On to Everton, we rarely enjoy their visits to the Boleyn, if it's not Fellaini bullying us in the old days, it's now Lukaku giving Collins the run around.  Fortunately Leighton Baines is out for the season, so we won't be watching his free kicks firing in.  The match also has the issue of the Fair Play place up for grabs, with the Hammers leading the charge for that UEFA place with Everton close behind.  Some are predicting a tame game as a result, but I think we may see a few end of season goals and a 2-2 draw is in the cards for me here.  If you fancy popping down you can check out some of the football ticket trade sites to see if you can grab one or try the West Ham Box Office.

Come on you Irons!
