West Ham team news: Important attacker available vs Man United, playmaker ruled out

West Ham United play in the Premier League against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday. Both sides head into the contest on the back of defeats.

The Hammers lost their previous game 2-0 against Chelsea on Monday following a brace from Eden Hazard.

United lost their previous match 2-1 against Wolves earlier this month and also fell to a 1-0 defeat in the Champions League last 16 first leg against Barcelona earlier this week.

Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham side will need to have considerable improvement if they are to secure points from this game.

The Hammers looked devoid of confidence during the past two successive Premier League losses against Chelsea and Everton.

Had it not been for West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, the scorelines during both games would have most probably been higher.

The Hammers are without an away win in the League since the start of the year and this is something that they will need to change soon if they wish to challenge for a place in the Europa League next season.

West Ham can however draw inspiration from the fact that they defeated United 3-1 during the reverse fixture which took place at the London Stadium last September.

In good news for the Hammers, winger Michail Antonio will be available to play against United, according to Sky Sports.

The Englishman had to miss West Ham’s recent defeat against Chelsea due to an ankle injury. The report added that Samir Nasri will not play a role in the game due to a calf problem.

The former Frenchman joins the likes of Andy Carroll, Andriy Yarmolenko, Carlos Sanchez, Jack Wilshere and Winston Reid on the injury casualties list, according to Sky Sports.
