West Ham team news: Club state if Coufal can play vs Leicester, duo available

West Ham United return to Premier League action on Sunday with an away day against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

The Hammers have had a hot-and-cold campaign in 2020-21 so far, with an upturn in fortunes recently – epitomised by the 4-0 win over Wolves in the last league game.

However, a changed West Ham side were beaten 4-1 by Everton in the Carabao Cup in midweek and David Moyes will hope for improvement at the weekend.

The Hammers’ official website has confirmed that new signing, Vladimir Coufal, has been registered in time and could well make his Irons debut in the trip to Leicester.

With Ryan Fredericks out of contention due to a hamstring injury, it will be interesting to see if West Ham hand a start to the Czech right-back or opt for rising star Ben Johnson.

In positive news, the Hammers have duo Issa Diop and Josh Cullen back available after the pair completed their periods of self isolation.

The French defender’s return in particular will mean an important additional option for West Ham at centre-half and will aid the side’s potential continued use of a three-man backline.

The Hammers will need to be at their best to overcome Leicester, who dispatched Manchester City 5-2 in their last Premier League game.

Manager Moyes is still isolating and unavailable, so West Ham assistant Alan Irvine will continue to lead the team from touchline.
