West Ham team news: Another blow as wideman out vs Everton, duo unavailable

West Ham United are back in Carabao Cup action on Wednesday night with a clash against Everton at Goodison Park, with Alan Irvine continuing to lead the side in David Moyes’ absence.

The Hammers have impressed in the cup competition so far this season, with fringe players and rising stars getting the chance to play in previous rounds.

West Ham’s run in the cup has helped to build confidence, with a 4-0 Premier League win over Wolves at the weekend suggesting the side has turned the corner after a slow start to the campaign.

It will be interesting to see if the Irons continue to field a changed side against Everton, given that the quality of the opposition is a step up from the sides the club has faced in previous rounds.

West Ham have confirmed on their official website that wideman Ryan Fredericks will play no role in the clash on Merseyside after picking up a hamstring injury in the weekend win over Wolves.

This should mean Ben Johnson gets the chance to play at right-back.

Along with Moyes, the Hammers are still without Issa Diop and Josh Cullen, who are isolating after returning positive COVID-19 tests.

West Ham have a clean bill of health otherwise and as such competition for starting places will be intense.

The likes of Andriy Yarmolenko, Sebastien Haller and Manuel Lanzini have impressed in previous rounds, with every chance the exciting trio will feature against Everton.
