West Ham United could move for Maxi Gomez and Aleksandar Mitrovic this summer, according to a report published by the London Evening Standard.
Both players have been impressive this season. Gomez who plays his football for Celta Vigo has managed to score 13 goals and provide five assists in the La Liga this season. He is set to also be part of Uruguay’s squad which is due to play in the Copa America this summer.
The 22-year-old is unlikely to come cheap as he has a £43.5 million release clause in his contract. Manuel Pellegrini is believed to be an admirer of Gomez. The Uruguayan was reportedly a target of the East Londoners in January when Marko Arnautovic was set to leave the club and join the Chinese Super League.
The Austrian eventually decided to stay with the Hammers and even went on to sign a new long-term deal with the club. Mitrovic meanwhile was one of the few star performers in an inconsistent Fulham side which was relegated from the Premier League this season without even putting much of a fight.
The Serbian went on to score 11 goals in the League this season from 37 Premier League appearances. He is a proven player in the Premier League while Gomez is not.
Mitrovic has proven what he is capable of this season. He is certainly worthy of playing top-flight football and it is very unlikely that Fulham will manage to retain him for next season. This is a player which the Hammers must go all-out to sign this summer.
