West Ham open to offers for attacking pair, want former Chelsea attacker

West Ham United are willing to listen to offers for attackers Diafra Sakho and Javier Hernandez, with former Chelsea forward Andre Schurrle a player David Moyes wants to bring to the club this month, according to The Telegraph.

The new Hammers boss has steadied the ship since taking over at the London Stadium but has work to do to get the Irons out of a potential relegation scrap.

The January transfer window is seen as critical in Moyes’ ability to lead West Ham up the table but as yet there have been no new additions at the club.

Under the Scotsman, Marko Arnautovic and Michail Antonio have been given roles higher up the pitch, while there has also been a ray of light for Andy Carroll to feature more regularly.

As such, the Telegraph report that both Hernandez and Sakho could leave West Ham if a suitor stumps up the required finances before the end of the month.

The Mexico international only joined the Hammers in the summer from Bayer Leverkusen and was seen by many as the answer to the club’s long-term issue of the lack of a proven goalscorer.

While Hernandez has shown glimpses of what he is capable of, the former Manchester United forward has not been at his predatory best for West Ham this term, largely due to a lack of service – and speculation over his future continues to swirl.

Sakho is undoubtedly a player with a lot to offer the Hammers but consecutive managers have failed to give the Senegal international the required time on the pitch for him to make a lasting impact.

The African forward was seemingly close to a West Ham exit in the summer but remained at the club – it would not be a surprise to see him leave the Hammers this month due to a lack of first-team football.

In Schurrle, the London club would be getting a proven and experienced attacker, with the Germany international an exciting potential recruit.

The former Chelsea man has struggled for game-time this season at Dortmund, with talk in the press of a potential loan deal to bring him to West Ham.

Schurrle’s versatility to play in any of the attacking roles would appeal to Moyes, while his quality on the ball would surely excite the Hammers faithful.

West Ham are back in Premier League action this weekend as the London side travel to Yorkshire to face Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
