A battling West ham performance has seen West Ham draw 0-0 against rivals Spurs. Despite peppering our goal with chances, Spurs could not breakdown a superd defence, it has to be said very well marshalled by Matthew Upson. However, arguably the best chance of the day fell to Carlton Cole who found himself one on one with Gomes before tamely shooting at the keeper.
Every player can hold their head high today, though the quieter performances were from Hitzlsperger, Cole and Ba. Noble and Parker were once again the midfield lynchpins. With every game I watch, Cappello's decision not to take Scott Parker to the workd cup seems more and more ridiculous. Parker is simply a top quality midfielder and drives from box to box for 90 minutes. He's easily up there with Gerard and Lampard for me and deserves all the accolades he gets. Anyhoo, let's rate the players….
Green – 9 – top performance with some real world class saves
Bridge – 8 – was defensively superb today and rightly got man of the match
Upson – 8 – solid defending and kept the defence organised
Da Costa – 8 – possibly one of his best games for us, dominant in the air and denied the Spurs attack space
Hitzsperger – 6 – a quiet game from Hitz
Noble – 8 – ran and ran and ran and ran….
Parker – 8 – Mr Invincible ran the show again
Ba – 6 – made a couple of chances for himself but quiet overall
Cole – 6 – should have done better with his chance and did not hold the ball up as he should have
O'Neill – 7 – great engine, worked very hard
Overall, the lads did very well and I'm a very proud Hammer, come you Irons!
