West Ham start life in the Championship with a stern test at home to Cardiff City. This is followed by Donccaster and Watford away and Leeds at home. Certainly not the easiest of starts for the Hammers and a quick litmus test of whether Sam has got the team organised and motivated. Some midweek games have upset Hammers hoping to make a weekend of it, including Southampton away, and a boxing day trip to Birmingham or a New Year#s Eve match against Derby might require some extra special boxes for the missus under the Christmas tree.
