West Ham United have been linked with a surprise move to sign Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic, according to a report published by Italian source Gazzetta Dello Sport.
The Hammers have blown hot and cold this season. The likes of Felipe Anderson, Issa Diop and Lukasz Fabianski have all performed well since arriving at West Ham last summer, however Manuel Pellegrini will need to make some clever additions to his squad this summer if he truly wants to transform his side into one which can challenge for European football.
Reported West Ham target Perisic has been with Inter since 2015 and has since managed to go on and make 155 appearances for the club.
He has since reportedly decided that the time is now right for him to leave the San Siro giants and there is a good chance that he will be sold this summer, in a potential opportunity for the Hammers.
Perisic was one of the stars for the Croatian national team during the 2018 World Cup as his country went on to surprisingly reach the final of the tournament in Russia before losing to France.
The player is a world-class talent and if West Ham do indeed sign him, it would be a massive coup. However, the report did add that the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham are also interested.
If this is true, West Ham’s London rivals could have a huge advantage in signing the player.
Tottenham and Arsenal may possibly be able to offer Perisic the opportunity to play in the Champions League next season.
However, the opportunity to be a star player at West Ham would also be on offer.
