West Ham and Aston Villa could do summer deal for talented star

Aston Villa are interested in re-signing Robert Snodgrass from West Ham United this summer, according to a report in the Birmingham Mail.

The media outlet are claiming the Villans want to bring the Scotland international back on a season-long loan after he helped to take them to the Championship play-off final last year.

It is understood that Steve Bruce’s side would have liked to have turned the deal into a permanent one this summer, however, financial restrictions have left the club in a position whereby they cannot.

The report has also suggested that Snodgrass’ future at the London Stadium is in doubt, as the Hammers are not quite sure what to do with him.

Manuel Pellegrini has since been installed as the new manager and has been busy in the transfer window, where he has significantly improved his squad as he prepares to compete for a place in European football.

The likes of Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko and Jack Wilshere have all been added to the midfield ranks, with a number of players already at the London Stadium, which will make Snodgrass’ chances of getting into the first-team more difficult.

The 30-year-old joined the Irons from Hull City for a fee in the region of £7million, however, he struggled to reach the heights that brought him to the capital.

Having arrived in January 2017, he has featured 15 times for West Ham, but he has failed to find the target and faired a lot better in the Championship with Aston Villa.
