A smattering of boos were heard on the final whistle, but they were not from Hull fans. West Ham fans were reacting to a negative performance against a ten man, though strong, Hull team. There was very little pressing or urgency from us, the goals arriving courtesy of a penalty and an own goal. Upton Park looks like it is to remain a bedrock of uncertainty and tension until the season is over, following which I expect Allardyce and us to part ways.
I'm still slightly torn on this, under Zola or Grant this would have been a give it all game ending in defeat, instead in turns out to be a very defensive victory. Whoever does take over will have a big burden of expectation in terms of 'entertainment', without necessarily having the personnel to see it through. We must be careful what we wish for…
