West Ham United may well have to dip into the loan market to sign new faces, according to manager David Moyes.
It has been an underwhelming summer for the Hammers, with no new faces and the frustrating sale of rising star Grady Diangana to Premier League rivals West Bromwich Albion.
West Ham’s supporters are desperate for the club to invest in Moyes’ first team squad, but it appears there are limited funds available to fund player signings.
The Hammers started the new Premier League season with a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United at home on Saturday, with alarm bells ringing in the aftermath.
Moyes has admitted that temporary acquisitions could well be West Ham’s best hope of adding quality to the first-team squad.
“We’ve been offered one or two loan players, which we may have to do as well,” the Hammers boss said, according to Claret and Hugh.
West Ham looked toothless in attack on Saturday, in stark contrast to the end of last season where Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio in particular were firing.
The Hammers are in dire need of defensive reinforcements, with too many goals conceded last term and two soft goals scored by Newcastle yesterday.
West Ham have a tough run of fixtures coming up and as such, new signings would be a morale boost before the window closes on October 5.
