‘Very difficult decision’ – Masuaku provides injury update on Twitter

West Ham United wideman Arthur Masuaku has provided an injury update on Twitter, stating that he has made the ‘very difficult decision’ to undergo knee surgery.

The versatile Hammers star has been a key man for the club this season, with the side’s fortunes improving after David Moyes switched to a back three, with the Congolese 27-year-old operating as a wing-back.

Masuaku’s attacking intent and sublime delivery has been a key element of West Ham’s attacking threat and the former Olympiakos man has turned his fortunes at the club around.

However, it appears that the gifted wideman will be out of action for some time after going under the knife – but he has pledged to return as soon as possible.

West Ham prevailed against Leeds United on Friday night without Masuaku, winning 2-1 as the side switched to a 4-4-1-1 set-up in the African attacker’s absence.

The result continues the strong run of form that the Hammers have been showing, with the club fighting for a place in the Premier League’s top six.

Masuaku’s absence will reduce West Ham’s options at left-back, with Aaron Cresswell reverting to that position instead of centre-half in the victory at Elland Road.
