Sky Sports: West Ham in talks over potential big-money deal

West Ham United could sell Sebastien Haller to Ajax during the January transfer window, with Sky Sports stating the clubs are talking over a potential deal.

The Ivory Coast international joined the Hammers last summer from Eintracht Frankfurt and his capture was touted as a real coup, with the targetman predicted to end the club’s woes in the final third.

However, despite a promising start to life at West Ham, Haller has struggled for consistency and has been forced to play second fiddle to Michail Antonio on plenty of occasions.

The Irons have had a good season to date, but there is a feeling that if the side had a striker that could score regularly, the team could push for a top-six finish in the Premier League.

It remains to be seen whether Haller will ever be that man, with West Ham seemingly weighing up their options.

Sky Sports suggest that Ajax are keen on the 26-year-old, but have offered less than half of the £45 million that the Hammers spent to land the striker from Frankfurt.

Should a deal be struck, David Moyes will surely be keen to land a replacement before the end of the month in order to not be short of attacking options.

The report suggests Bournemouth’s versatile forward Josh King could yet be an option if Haller leaves.

West Ham are back in competitive action on Monday night with an FA Cup third round clash against Stockport County.
