West Ham United have a loan deal in principle to land Michy Batshuayi on loan from Chelsea, but the Blues would prefer to sell the Belgian before the day is out, according to Sky Sports.
The Hammers are clearly active in the transfer market on deadline day and have been linked with a number of new players in the last 24-48 hours.
West Ham fans would love to see a new striker arrive at the club before the window closes to take pressure and the goalscoring burden off Marko Arnautovic – and Batshuayi arriving would be something to excite the masses.
The Belgium international is fast, strong and has an eye for goal – just why the reported Hammers target has not been given a consistent chance at Chelsea remains to be seen.
West Ham could certainly make use of the former Marseille man’s considerable abilities as Manuel Pellegrini’s men look to power their way up the Premier League table.
The report suggests that both the Hammers and Real Betis have agreed deals for Batshuayi and as such there is a decision to be made over where the Belgian centre forward will spend the rest of the season.
However, West Ham’s hopes of landing the Chelsea man could still run ashore if a potential buyer arises – with the Blues valuing the striker at around £30 million.
