Sky Sports claim that West Ham are interested in exciting striker

Sky Sports have claimed that West Ham United are one of the clubs that are interested in signing Roma striker Gregoire Defrel, who is currently on loan with Sampdoria.

After struggle to adapt to life at Roma, the 27-year-old has so far netted six goals from 18 appearances in Serie A on-loan this season to get his career back on track.

The report adds that Watford and Fulham are also interested in the Frenchman.

The report that West Ham are interested in Defrel certainly comes as a surprise. Manuel Pellegrini’s side are not short of forwards with the likes of Javier Hernandez, Andy Caroll, Lucas Perez and Marko Arnautovic all available to be called upon.

The Londoners have also been quite impressive in the final third during recent games after initially struggling during the early parts of the campaign.

Felipe Anderson and Arnautovic in particular have shone, scoring 15 goals between them.

West Ham may need new strikers at the end of the season.

Arnautovic’s future is uncertain while Hernandez has not lived up to expectations since he arrived at the club ahead of the 2017-18 season.

West Ham fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Brighton in midweek and any January signings would surely be welcomed by the supporters.
