‘Rolled his ankle’ – Moyes confirms new West Ham injury

West Ham United manager David Moyes has stated that Jack Wilshere has injured his ankle and as such was not able to play a role in Tuesday night’s clash with Charlton Athletic.

The Hammers got back to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over the Football League side, with a brace from Sebastien Haller and a goal from Felipe Anderson sending the East London outfit through to the next round.

Plenty of West Ham fringe men took their chance to impress and push for a more-regular fist-team place, but Wilshere was notable in his absence.

The Hammers midfielder has been dogged by injuries since joining the club from Arsenal, with Moyes confirming another setback for the former England international.

“Jack Wilshere rolled his ankle in training yesterday and he was the only one who wasn’t available to play tonight,” the West Ham boss told the club’s official website

The impressive performance of Josh Cullen will have given Moyes food for thought, while the summer acquisition of Tomas Soucek has added another option for the Hammers in central midfield.

Wilshere’s stint at West Ham has been nothing short of a disaster and it now looks like time for the club to try and move him on.

The midfielder is clearly a talented player but his incessant injuries have meant he has not been able to live up to his potential with the Hammers.
