Report: West Ham want PL attacker, scored zero goals last season

West Ham United are interested in signing Brighton and Hove Albion winger Solly March, according to 90 Min.

The Hammers have been quiet in the transfer window so far, with the permanent acquisition of Tomas Soucek the only solace for the supporters.

On the other hand, West Ham have cashed in and offloaded a host of players including Grady Diangana, Roberto, Albian Ajeti and Jordan Hugill.

The Irons supporters are keen for the club to reinvest some of this money on new faces, with the need for fresh blood evident in the Hammers’ 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United in the Premier League opener on Saturday night.

The report suggests West Ham have opened negotiations with Brighton over March, who was a fringe figure in the Seagulls team last term – playing 19 Premier League games, but not registering a goal.

Newcastle, Everton and Wolves have all been attributed with an interest in the attacker also, but the report says the Hammers have made the first move.

It remains to be seen where March would fit in at West Ham, with attacking widemen in abundance and the club’s fans calling out for the signing of a striker and at least one defender.

The Hammers have until October 5 to strengthen David Moyes’ squad, with new faces needed to avoid another disappointing season.
