West Ham United are ready to offload youth-team product Josh Cullen to Anderlecht, with Football Insider stating a £800,000 fee has been agreed with the Belgian giants.
The Hammers midfielder has been touted as a potential first-team regular for plenty of years, but has been forced to leave East London on loan to get regular action.
This season, West Ham manager David Moyes has preferred the likes of Tomas Soucek, Declan Rice and Mark Noble in the heart of the Irons side, with Cullen not featuring in the Premier League.
Despite playing well when selected in the Carabao Cup, the Hammers look set to let the Republic of Ireland international leave the London Stadium, with the latest report suggesting a medical in Belgium is scheduled for Monday.
Cullen also has Robert Snodgrass as competition for a West Ham midfield berth, with speculation over both men’s futures – but a deal to see the 24-year-old leave would surely suggest the Scottish veteran will be staying at the club.
How the homegrown product’s possible sale will be received by the Hammers fans remains to be seen, with an outpouring of frustration happening after Grady Diangana was sold to West Brom last month.
Cullen has attacking impetus from the centre of the park and looks like a Premier League calibre player, but at 24 needs to be playing regularly – something that seems unlikely at West Ham in 2020-21.
