Report: West Ham have shown interest in PL midfielder, could be shrewd signing

West Ham United have been accredited with an interest in Sheffield United contract rebel John Lundstram, with the Sheffield Star stating the Hammers have been monitoring the midfielder’s situation.

The Irons are looking to bolster David Moyes’ squad over the next month ahead of the 2020-21 campaign, with hopes for a more-positive season than the one just concluded.

Midfield is an area most West Ham fans would agree could use reinforcements, with an over-reliance on Declan Rice and Mark Noble in the boiler room.

The latest report suggests Lundstram has been in talks with Sheffield United over a new contract for more than a year, but has failed to agree terms, while Sky Sports recently stated four unnamed Premier League teams were interested in signing the 26-year-old.

With West Ham looking to British talent first and foremost this summer, landing tested Premier League players would be a wise move.

Lundstram was an unsung hero of the very impressive Blades side that overachieved last season and would add quality and bite to the Hammers’ midfield options.

While there will be other teams interested in the Sheffield United man should he become available, West Ham should get ahead of the queue and solidify their interest in the midfielder.
