West Ham United failed in a late attempt to sign Czech defender Michal Frydrych before the transfer window closed, according to @ExWHUemployee.
The Hammers were desperate for defensive reinforcements before the window closed and were unsuccessful in a number of high-profile transfer pursuits.
In the end, West Ham landed veteran Craig Dawson on a season-long loan deal from Championship side Watford to add strength in depth to David Moyes’ squad.
However, the latest report suggests the Hammers also made an offer for Frydrych before he left Slavia Prague to join Wisla Krakow.
“So, it was talked about on Claret and Hugh that we wanted to sign a Czech defender who we didn’t end up signing in the end,” ExWHUemployee said on The West Ham Way Podcast.
“I did mention the fact that we wanted to sign a Czech defender previously. His name is Michal Frydrych and he ended up moving to Polish side Wisla Krakow.
“It was someone that we wanted to sign and we did put a late bid in for him towards the end of the window, but we were too late with that one.”
West Ham have raided Slavia Prague twice in the last couple of months to complete deals for Czech Republic international duo Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal.
Both players look to be key components in the Hammers side and Frydrych would have been another competent addition.
West Ham are back in Premier League action on Saturday evening with a tough trip to face reigning champions Liverpool at Anfield.
