West Ham pair Javier Hernandez and Manuel Lanzini could be set to return to action when the club faces off against Tottenham this weekend, according to a reliable Hammers source.
The duo missed their sides 2-2 draw against Leicester City last weekend. Hernandez had an ear injury while Lanzini had a muscle injury. It will be a morale boost for the Hammers to have the duo available to them again.
Lanzini has had to miss the majority of the season due to a serious knock which he sustained last summer while he was training with Argentina ahead of the 2018 World Cup. The Hammers should ideally restrict him to a cameo against Spurs or rest him for the game. They should aim to ease him back into action in the near-future and bring him back fully as an important first-team member as of next season.
Hernandez has blew hot and cold since his arrival at the London Stadium from Bayer Leverkusen during the summer of 2017. He will add firepower to the Hammers frontline which will need to be on song if they are to get something from the game against the Lilywhites.
During the clash, Spurs will have their upcoming Champions League semi-final tie against Ajax Amsterdam heavily on their mind and this could influence their side selection for the game. It is unlikely that Spurs will be at their best against Manuel Pellegrini’s side and if they gel well together on the day, the Hammers are certainly capable of getting something from the game.
