West Ham United coach Paul Nevin is only currently at the London Stadium until the end of the ongoing season, according to the Football Insider website.
The experienced member of David Moyes’ Hammers back room staff arrived earlier in the month, in a joint addition alongside Kevin Nolan, but only penned a deal until the summer it appears.
Nevin is highly regarded as a coach, and it was something of a surprise when he joined as part of the West Ham set up, but the 50-year-old has kept his options open by only signing a contract for the remainder of this season.
The experienced tactician has had roles alongside Gareth Southgate for England, and he has been part of the team on the bench with Chris Hughton at both Norwich City and Brighton and Hove Albion, and it could be that he links up with the latter again should he get another managerial role in the summer.
Before then though, the Hammers will need him to deliver the goods at the London Stadium as assistant to Moyes, with the club staring at a drop back into the Championship, which needs to be avoided at all costs.
Should West Ham remain in the top flight this term, it is expected that Nevin will remain at the London Stadium, and resist any urge to join up with his former boss.
The Hammers offered up some positive signs against Liverpool, which should install a bit of belief in everyone that they can avoid relegation, although they need to start picking up points as a matter of urgency rather than just put in better performances.
If they are able to stay up and Moyes is able to maintain some continuity in his coaching ranks, it will allow West Ham to build for the future, but the lack of commitment from Nevin must be a concern.
