Report names three Championship men West Ham are interested in

West Ham United’s attempts to sign new players has taken them to scouring the Football League, with the Daily Star stating the club are interested in Said Benrahma, Steve Cook and Craig Dawson.

The Hammers supporter base were left frustrated on deadline day as moves fell through for a number of targets, which has left the East London club short.

West Ham’s hierarchy stated the sale of Grady Diangana to West Brom last month was to fund new acquisitions, but Vladimir Coufal has been the only new face since the winger’s departure.

Defensive reinforcements have been a priority of note and the latest report suggests that the Hammers are looking at veterans Cook and Dawson as potential additions before the cut-off for business from the Football League on October 16.

Benrahma would be an exciting new addition for West Ham, but with a limited budget to spend, landing the Brentford attacker could well be out of reach.

Positive recent results in the Premier League have masked the fact that the club has failed to suitably strengthen in the transfer market in recent months.

West Ham manager David Moyes has admitted to the press that the club is short of options in defence particularly, while the sale of a host of fringe men means the Hammers are not blessed with strength in depth should injuries or unavailability occur.
