Report: Moyes wants to sell West Ham man, played 40 PL games in last two seasons

West Ham United manager David Moyes does not rate centre-half Fabian Balbuena and is open to selling the defender this summer, according to reliable Hammers source ExWHUemployee.

The Irons need to freshen up the first-team squad this summer and it has been reported that the club are prioritising defensive additions during the current window.

West Ham are relatively short of options at centre-half, with Balbuena jostling for a starting berth with Issa Diop and Angelo Ogbonna.

The 29-year-old joined the Hammers two summers ago from Brazilian side Corinthians and has gone on to make 40 Premier League appearances for the club since.

However, if the latest report is true, Balbuena’s time at West Ham could be numbered.

The South American has been inconsistent during his time in England but it remains to be seen whether the Hammers can land an upgrade on the Paraguayan before the transfer window ends.

West Ham’s defensive issues were the main reason for the club having to fight against relegation last season, with the Irons conceding 62 goals in 2019-20.

The Hammers supporters will hope for a more settled and compact defensive unit next season, with the club hoping for a top-half finish as a minimum.
