Report: Moyes provides amazing West Ham news ahead of Tottenham clash

West Ham United manager David Moyes has stated that star attacker Michail Antonio should be available for this weekend’s Premier League clash against local rivals Tottenham.

The versatile attacker has sat out the Hammers’ last two games, but has returned to the training pitch this week – giving him a good chance of featuring against Spurs.

“Michail has a good chance of being available for Sunday because he’s had three days training,” Moyes told the official West Ham website.

“We’ve always been careful with Mich in trying to get him right, but he was close for the last game. We didn’t quite think it was worth the risk.

“He’s not been training with the group every day, but he’s been doing some individual work and hopefully we’ll know a bit more tomorrow.”
Should Antonio return, it gives Moyes plenty of options in the final third and West Ham will look to exploit a vulnerable Tottenham rearguard.

Jarrod Bowen has played well in a central role in Antonio’s absence, allowing January signing Jesse Lingard to come into the side and giving Manuel Lanzini time on the pitch also.

However, Antonio adds a killer instinct and a real goal threat that the other options do not, with the 30-year-old also adept at holding up the ball and bringing other players into the game.

West Ham fans will surely want the former Nottingham Forest man back in the starting line-up against Spurs, if he is ready, with Antonio already netting five Premier League goals this season.

A win for the Hammers would be a massive boost for the club’s ambitions of qualifying for European football and strike a blow to a side directly competing for places high up in the table.

West Ham are currently sitting in fifth position on the Premier League table and could move into the Champions League qualification berths with a favourable result this weekend.
