Report: Key West Ham enforcer to return for Tottenham clash

West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek is going to be out for the next three weeks, with a return against Tottenham Hotspur on the cards, according to Football.London.

The Hammers’ January signing picked up a hip injury in the 3-2 defeat at Liverpool on Monday night, in a match where he was having a massive impact until suffering his issue.

The absence is going to be strongly felt by West Ham, as the Czech Republic international has settled into the Premier League well, and was really beginning to make a huge impression at the London Stadium.

The 25-year-old has played the last three matches in the centre of the park for the Hammers, but is now set for three weeks on the sidelines, at a point in the season when the Londoners can ill afford to be without him.

It means that the West Ham midfielder is going to be absent for the key matches against Southampton this Saturday, as well as the trip to the Emirates Stadium to take on Arsenal and the home game against Wolverhampton Wanderers that follows that.

The Hammers then go to their rivals Tottenham in the final game before the last international break of the campaign, and that is the one they are eyeing up having Soucek back for.

Given where West Ham are in the league table, boss David Moyes is really going to have to count on the likes of Declan Rice and Mark Noble to stand up and be counted even more than they have been already, as the London Stadium outfit look to come away with points that can be of use to them as they look to exit the relegation zone.

The Hammers have three big matches which could define their season on the horizon, but whatever happens in those they will be delighted to have their Czech enforcer back on the pitch.
