Report: Club to subsidise deal, appealing for West Ham

West Ham United’s chances of landing Ruben Loftus-Cheek on loan have been improved as Chelsea are willing to pay a high percentage of his wages, according to The Sun.

The Hammers have been linked with the gifted midfielder in recent weeks, as David Moyes looks to improve his squad before the transfer window closes at 11pm on Monday night.

While defensive reinforcements are seemingly the priority, a goalscoring creative midfielder would be a welcome addition at West Ham – and Loftus-Cheek would fit the bill.

With first-team football set to be limited at Chelsea, the Hammers could offer the 24-year-old the chance to play regularly in the Premier League.

The report suggests West Ham and Southampton are both interested in Loftus-Cheek, with the Blues ready to cover £100,000 of his £173,000 per week salary.

The Hammers have plenty of options in the heart of Moyes’ side but there is an absence of goals from deep, with Mark Noble and Declan Rice steady players but not overly attacking.

To be able to add a player of Loftus-Cheek’s ability on a loan deal would suit West Ham’s tight transfer budget.

Time is running out for the Hammers to conclude their transfer business, with the fans desperate to witness some ambition from the club’s hierarchy in the transfer market.
