‘Really pleased’, ‘excited’ – Hammers fans react to deadline day activity

West Ham United announced they have signed Basel forward Albian Ajeti for £8 million on Thursday morning, and their fans have been reacting to the news on social media.

The Hammers have been busy bolstering their attacking options this summer, as they prepare for a campaign in which they hope to be challenging for spots in Europe at the very least.

Manuel Pellegrini has seen a number of forward players depart the London Stadium since the end of last season, but had already secured the services of the likes of Pablo Fornals and Sebastien Haller, who the West Ham boss brought in to replace those who have left.

The Chilean has not finished there however, and announced the signing of Ajeti on Thursday, to give his attacking unit a further lift, ahead of what is an important campaign for the Hammers.

The Switzerland international was involved in the UEFA Nations League finals earlier in the summer, after an excellent season at Basel which saw him notch 15 goals in 35 matches for the Swiss outfit, a record which soon alerted the West Ham hierarchy.

The 22-year-old comes with a big reputation, albeit at a lower level, and could be one to really excite the London Stadium faithful this season, as he looks to help with the Hammers’ goal threat.

It remains to be seen what sort of a role the Swiss star will play in his maiden campaign with West Ham, with Javier Hernandez already at the club to battle for the striker position, but he looks a good option whenever he will be called upon.

Hammers fans seem pleased with the move, with the addition not only likely to bolster them in the present, but offers a good option for them in the future, with the amount of potential improvement that is in him.
