West Ham United are interested in signing Reims ace Edouard Mendy, according to an exclusive report in the Daily Mirror.
The media outlet are claiming that the Guinea-Bissau international is attracting interest from new Hammers boss Manuel Pelligrini.
The Chilean, who arrived at the London Stadium on Tuesday following the departure of David Moyes, is said to be keen on improving his squad and has identified the African ‘keeper as a possible transfer target.
The 25-year-old has been solid for Reims in the French Ligue 2 this season, having kept 17 clean sheets in the 31 matches he played in the competition, conceding just 19 times.
The shot-stopper has earned rave reviews from France about his ability, which has led to an interest from a number of clubs, including Premier League rivals Newcastle United.
West Ham will be looking to bring in a new goalkeeper this summer as it is a position that will require filling.
Adrian is said to be unhappy with life at the London Stadium, although that could change following the departure of Moyes, whilst Joe Hart has returned to Manchester City following his loan spell with the Hammers.
Pellegrini could then feel that a new number one is required to help him achieve his ambitions of taking the Irons to a European football spot and at just £2million, Mendy is thought to be a rather inexpensive option.
