Opinion: West Ham 26-year-old has amazing opportunity vs Liverpool

West Ham United travel to face Liverpool on Merseyside this weekend, with the Hammers looking like a team full of confidence and potential.

However, with Michail Antonio unavailable due to a hamstring complaint, it is very likely that David Moyes will give Sebastian Haller the chance to lead the Irons line against the reigning English champions.

It is fair to say the French forward has not lived up to his billing since moving to West Ham from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer.

Arriving with a hefty reputation, Haller has struggled to adapt to life at the London Stadium and has looked off the pace of the game when he has featured in the Premier League.

However, the French forward’s showing in the Bundesliga and standing in French football show his calibre – he just has to showcase this at West Ham.

A potential run of games in the starting XI could well be the impetus the striker needs to get to his best and become the player the Hammers need in the final third.

With Antonio flexible enough to play anywhere along the forward line, if Haller can shine against Liverpool and play a role in a positive result, Moyes may well be tempted to partner the pair in the near future when both are available.
