‘One of the toughest’ – West Ham manager Moyes gushes over Tottenham quality

West Ham United manager David Moyes has admitted the side are in for a tough game against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday – but a win could keep the Irons dreaming of an amazing outcome this season.

The Hammers go into the grudge match at the London Stadium in fifth position and a win could propel the club into the Premier League’s top four.

West Ham will be facing a Tottenham side who have been inconsistent since the turn of the year and one that the home team will feel is there for the taking.

The reverse fixture earlier this season saw the Hammers stage a remarkable comeback, with a later wondergoal from Manuel Lanzini seeing the Irons claim a 3-3 draw after being 3-0 down.

West Ham fans love to see their side beat Tottenham and victory this weekend would be all the sweeter given that the team could move into the Champions League qualification places.

However, Moyes is expecting a difficult game on Sunday and was full of praise when asked about the quality that Tottenham possess.

“I don’t think for a minute I’ve ever doubted the attacking threat Tottenham have got or the qualities Tottenham have got. They’re a top team and one of the best teams in the country, so we know we’re going to have a really hard game,” he told the West Ham official website.

“We’re going well ourselves at the moment, but the opposition we’re playing is tough and Tottenham are one of the toughest.

“It would be really significant if we can beat them because it would keep us pushing on in the position we’re in.

“Let’s not kid ourselves on, we’re only new to this and we’re the new kids on the block. We’re trying to challenge, we’re trying to hang in there, and if we can stay on the coattails of the clubs above us who knows where we can go?”

West Ham have Michail Antonio back for the game against Tottenham and as such Moyes has decisions to make in the final third.
