Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has told London News Online that he did have interest in Jarrod Bowen before the forward joined West Ham United from Hull City in the January transfer window.
As reported by The Guardian, West Ham signed Bowen from Championship club Hull on January transfer deadline day for a fee of £22 million.
The report also claimed of interest in the 23-year-old forward from the Hammers’ London and Premier League rivals West Ham.
Palace manager Hodgson has said that the Eagles did have interest in bringing the Englishman to Selhurst Park.
Hodgson told London News Online: “There was a discussion that Hull might consider loaning him for a period of time with an option to buy, and that interested us.
“But there was never any question that we would go in and buy him outright. So when West Ham went in and bought him outright, that’s something they’re entitled to do but that’s not something we would consider doing.”
Good signing for West Ham United?
Bowen may not have played in the Premier League before, but the 23-year-old is a very good attacking player who will make West Ham a better team.
The forward was a proven goalscorer at the Championship level, scoring 16 goals in the league this season, 22 in 2018-19 and 14 in 2017-18, according to WhoScored.
West Ham are in serious danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
